Speech-Language Pathologist
Bhav attended the University of Canterbury in Christchurch, New Zealand. After obtaining her master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology in 2019, she moved back to Surrey, BC, to begin her career as a speech-language pathologist (SLP).

Her approach to therapy is rooted in client-centered care as she strives to practice neurodiversity-affirming strategies to empower clients and promote self-advocacy. Bhav is passionate about providing education and advocacy specifically in the South Asian community and offers pro bono services to families in need.

Bhav has been providing care for children, adolescents, and adults for the past eight years who have a variety of diagnoses, such as Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Down Syndrome, Cerebral Palsy, Muscular Dystrophy, Intellectual Disability, Parkinson’s disease, Aphasia, Dementia, and Apraxia of Speech. Building relationships and adjusting therapy to a client’s strengths, interests, and sensory needs things that Bhav believes in. She aims to promote accessible communication strategies using a variety of modalities, with a focus on Total Communication (such as AAC, gestures, sign language, verbal output, and facial expression).

Bhav keeps learning and enhancing her skills as the field expands. She has received training in supporting gestalt language learners, or those who use echolalia or scripting and is certified as a Natural Language Acquisition (NLA) Trained Clinician.

Bhav is listed on the Registry of Autism Service Providers (RASP) list and is registered with the College of Speech and Hearing Health Professionals of British Columbia (CSHBC), Speech-Language & Audiology Canada (SAC), and CSHBC.

Bhav enjoys exploring new places and spending time with her family and friends when she is not working at the clinic. In addition to reading and painting, she likes to bake and swim.
