What Is Acupuncture
Acupuncture uses techniques with limited or minor side effects that helps to:
- Reduce pain, spasms, swelling and inflammation
- Promote a faster natural healing process
- Increase circulation
- Improve functionality and mobility
- Enhance the quality of life for individuals with chronic pain
Acupuncture is a form of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) that uses needles to stimulate the balance and flow of Qi energy throughout the body. Qi energy flows along pathways, also known as meridians, connected throughout the entire body. When the flow of energy is smooth, the body is in good health; whereas, when the flow of energy is deficient or obstructed, it indicates a susceptibility for illness and/or a concern for certain conditions.
Acupuncture is a safe and effective alternative treatment. The registered acupuncture treatment involves using extremely thin, medical grade, sterile and disposable acupuncture needles that most people describe as a small, light pinch where the needle is inserted. Your Acupuncturist may also use a technique called “cupping” for specific circulatory reasons, and will give homecare advice ranging from exercise to lifestyle changes and recommendations.
Individuals from all ages can be treated with acupuncture.
